I’m not sure what I love more about this story, which, by the way, was the main item on the front page of Sme, the best (not to be confused with most popular) daily in Slovakia.
First, there’s the photo itself. This one’s worth more than a thousand words.
Second, there’s the fact that the story has nothing, zero, zip, zilch, nada to do with Bush, who’s not mentioned anywhere in the article. It’s about a study by a researcher at Illinois who found that not all things parents do lead to positive responses from upset children. In other words, the photo is wholly unrelated to the story. They could’ve pulled any number of file photos to illustrate the phenomenon of the upset infant, and they picked this one. Classic.
By the way, the caption for the photo seems to be in exactly that vein. Loosely translated: “Obviously something upset the young boy in the photograph.”
